Keeping you current with LdM

Worthy of 1000 Words ... and then some. Luca Bracali joins LdM this spring teaching travel reportage, sports photography, and digital photography.

Focus on Your Future

You love to travel. Your camera is always on hand.

Italy wins the World Cup, and you're capturing images of jersey-clad fans waving the Italian flag, jumping ecstatically on top of a car on the edge of a jam-packed piazza. You're in Carrara, in awe of the "white marble mountains" where the quarries look like snow capped peaks and you can't believe you are about to work with the same marble prized by Michelangelo.

Whether you're focused on moments of joy and celebration, or drawn to the peculiar landscape of an unfamiliar region, the experience at LdM can give you inspiration, confidence and realistic training to become adept at a skill and understand what it's like to snap photos as an interested amateur or turn your obsession into a profession.

We encourage you to think about your future, and explore new areas of academic interest. At LdM, we help youdevelop personally and professionally.

Take Professional Travel Reportage Photography where you'll learn about the psychological and physical preparations involved in the job, as well as certain attitudes and predispositions that are necessary to become a successful travel photographer (and develop the muscles to carry a 3' lens!)

Or enroll in Italian Grand Tour: Italy Through the Eyes of Famous Travelers, where you will learn about well-known travelers who documented their experiences with words before the world went digital ...

Whatever you sign up for (there are 400 courses per year from which to choose) We're sure your experience at LdM will leave a lasting impression.

How didyour experience at LdM affect your career?

At LdM I was challenged to work independently but at the same time group work was emphasized. We visited design studios and other places that made what we were learning in the classroom, real. I found inspiration in the people, the architecture, the weather, everything.

Now, working at an interior design firm, I can fully see how my time abroad was influential for my career. I learned at LdM how art, especially in the professional world, can be extremely collaborative.

In Florence,we learned how the renaissance artists' workshops operated and also how so many design trends today are based in history.
I will always be thankful to my professors who shared their experiences as professionals, invited us to their studios, made every effort to encourage us as individuals ... and also gave us great recommendations for hiddenthings to do and see!
