Payment Policy

  • Upon acceptance to LdM, students must pay:
    • $500 Initial Program Payment (toward tuition/insurance)
    • Semester/AY: $1500 Housing Advance ($300 housing deposit and $1200 advance rent payment) if securing student apartment through LdM
    • Summer/Intersession: Housing Payment ($300 housing deposit plus full rent for session, if securing housing through LdM). See Housing Booklet for specific costs per site.
  • Half of program cost due by application deadline.
  • Final half of program cost due on program payment deadline.
  • If students apply on or after the application deadline but before the final program payment deadline, they must pay half of the program cost, including Housing Deposit/Advance-Semester/AY or Housing Payment-Summer/Intersession, if securing student apartment through LdM, upon application.
  • If students apply on or after the program payment deadline, they must submit the program cost in full upon application, including Housing Deposit/Payment, if securing student apartment through LdM.
  • All students must pay the $500.00 Initial Program Payment and the $1500 Housing Advance-Semester/AY or Housing Payment-Summer/Intersession (if securing a student apartment through LdM).
  • If students would like to establish a payment plan (for an additional fee of $130.00), payment in full will be due 10 days prior to departure. For financial aid students, payment in full is due upon release of their financial aid funds with a signed personal guarantee. If anticipated financial aid does not cover the balance, students must pay their portion by the payment deadline.
  • Please note, late applicants may not receive course and/or housing preferences and may experience difficulty obtaining their visa prior to program start date.
  • If a student's application is denied, all deposit and payments will be refunded in full.

The program dates are listed below and indicate arrival and departure dates for each session. Corresponding costs are dependent upon site, session, program/course, and housing selection. Please be sure to read carefully all conditions regarding your selections.

Also, when making outbound travel arrangements, be mindful of the time change. Please be sure that your flight arrives in Italy on the correct day, as flights often arrive in Italy the day after US departure.

The Study Abroad Workshops and Field School in Italy are short-term programs that provide 3-6 credits and include at least 1 week in the countryside. Please refer to the website for detailed descriptions of the programs.

*Academic Year housing is for exact dates of programs. Students must vacate between program sessions. Students who are enrolled for the Fall semester and wish to stay for the Spring semester may store luggage/belongings between sessions. LdM will assist students in finding storage and students will pay storage provider directly on site.

Students interested in other housing options (residence, hotel, B&B, or hostel) should contact the LdM Enrollment Office for additional housing costs. Housing with a host family is available on a very limited basis.

This supplemental insurance is required. Although it is not included in the Tuition Cost, it is included in the Total Program Cost below.

Certificate Program Deadlines: Application and Payment

Students must submit application materials on or before application deadline. The $500 initial program payment and the $1,500 housing advance ($300 housing deposit and $1,200 advance rent payment) (if securing student apartment housing) are due upon acceptance to the Program, or by the application deadline, whichever comes first. If you are applying on or near the application deadline, you must pay half of the program payment and the housing deposit with your application. All year-long Certificate Programs begin during the fall semester and the second semester takes place in the spring semester only. Students with prior knowledge of the selected field of study may be admitted to a non-beginning (spring) semester of a year-long Certificate Program, after submitting a portfolio of their work to be assessed and approved.
