Scuola Lorenzo de' Medici at "Terra Futura"05-18-2007Scuola Lorenzo de' Medici at "Terra Futura", Fortezza da Basso, May 18 - 20 Students of Interior Design and Fashion participate in the organization and activities of the exhibition.  The international Scuola Lorenzo de' Medici's departments of Interior Design and Fashion will participate for the first time in both the organization and activities of the 4th edition of "Terra Futura" the exhibition-conference for social, economic and environmental awareness to be held 18 - 20 May at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence."The organizers of this event," explains Elena Ferri, coordinator of the Design Department, "expressed to us the desire of transforming some of the exposition areas in order to be able to really encapsulate the event's significance. So, the students of Interior Design, using the furniture and other objects provided by the recent Mani Tese market, as well as packaging materials collected by the city, have set up two relaxation areas, completely constructed of recycled materials." Fashion Design students will also be present for "Second Hand, Second Life," the used clothing fashion show, to be held at 19:00 in Teatrino Lorenese and made possible through the support of the Fondazione Culturale Responsibilita' Etica and Mani Tese Firenze ONLUS. The articles of clothing will then be sold at the Mani Tese stand with proceeds donated to the improvement of conditions for children in Guatemala. "We have created an event analogous to that of the Festival della Creativita'" explains Elena Ferri. "We are pleased to hold this event again, hoping to surpass the proceeds collected in December. Furthermore, it is very important for the school to provide students with concrete opportunities to realize their own work." With LdM's participation at "Terra Futura," we conclude our calendar of events, tying together both creativity and awareness in both concrete projects and good daily practices, in which the students of Lorenzo de' Medici participated during the month of May: the "San Lorenzo Survival Kit" (10 - 12 May), the art competition "The Art is in the Streets" (12 May), and now, the exhibition-conference of "Terra Futura" (18 - 20 May). | ||||
