LdM's Restoration Extends to Chile
This past summer in Santiago, Chile, the Municipalidad de Providencia, the Escuela e Artes Aplicadas and Lorenzo de' Medici, and the parish of Los Santos Angeles Custodios came together in a joint effort under the direction of Lorenzo Casamenti of LdM's Restoration Department to begin planning the restoration of paintings and other decorative elements in the interior of the dome of the Church of Los Santos Angeles Custodios. After performing various analytical tests to determine the full scope of the project, as well as to ascertain methods and materials required, it was decided that this project will be inaugurated in 2010, corresponding to Chile's bicentennial year. Teachers and students of the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas will continue to work and plan for the restoration, which will begin with the fourth section of eight that comprise the dome and will involve the removal of varnish, the application of cleaning treatments, and the reintegration of missing pieces.
