LdM Filmed for BBC Documentary

A film crew from the BBC recently visited LdM to include its Foundation Oil Painting, Beginning/Intermediate Sculpture, and Marble and Stone Sculpture courses in its upcoming documentary, "The Medici The Art of Making Money," which focuses on the historic Medici family, its development of what we now recognize as the "art school", as well as Lorenzo de' Medici's now-lost sculpture garden. According to John Mullen of the BBC, "It was the wealth of the Medici that paid for the artistic genius of Florence, and Andrew shows the monetary roots of great masterpieces like Michelangelo's chapel in San Lorenzo, Botticelli and the sculptures of Donatello. He shows how the Medicis were portrayed in religious artwork study the wondrous Adoration of the Magi by Gozzoli, and you will see the whole of the Medici family tree. Taking in country villas, portraits, palazzos and statues, this is the most exciting story in the history of art, with rivalry and murder jostling alongside sumptuous works of genius. Andrew uncovers how the artistic tastes of one grand family changed the course of western culture forever!"

"The Medici The Art of Making Money" will air this fall on the BBC.
