Alyssa Mikiko DiPasquale
(Public Relations, Italian Language, Italian Opera, and Dance)
My hesitations and anxiety about moving into a new country and learning a new culture were lifted by LdM's warm faculty and kind administration. Everyone who works for LdM is very passionate about the school and it's programs, and it shows. It has been over a year since I attended the program and I am still in touch with many of the friends I made there and plan on being in touch with them for the rest of my life.

Carol Taddeo
(Art Restoration)
The Restoration Study Certificate Program was an ideal choice for my academic and professional development. As an art history graduate student with a general background in conservation, I wanted to acquire a deeper understanding of restoration methods when treating objects of the Renaissance period. I was able to directly analyze the methods and materials of construction in an older piece - a panel painting for example - and then perform diagnostic tests to determine chemical composition and appropriate restoration treatments. For the student studying restoration at LdM this program offers the unique opportunity to work with original works of art.

The principal instructor is an internationally renowned professional restorer who works with some of the most esteemed museums in Florence such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Pitti Palace, and the Medici Chapel. Having the opportunity to work with a mentoring instructor was crucial in developing the knowledge base and confidence to approach sixteenth- and seventeenth-century works of art. I was able to work with frescoes, paintings, and wooden objects in the laboratory. The Study Certificate Program at LdM provides an invaluable opportunity to combine academic knowledge and practical experience. This was a critical factor for me when I chose the program, and I feel this is a unique and precious gift offered by the LdM School. The student is able to carry this timeless experience with them throughout their professional career.
